
CASA of Morris and Sussex Counties is searching for inspiring youth leaders from Grades 7-12 across Morris and Sussex Counties to form a Youth Advisory Council.
The Youth Advisory Council will offer youth from diverse backgrounds a chance to act as ambassadors for CASA, serving as leaders in their own communities to increase awareness of CASA’s mission “to be a strong voice for the best interests of vulnerable children who have been removed from their homes.” The Council is being created to elevate youth voice and contribute to programming, while providing young people with a unique opportunity to be drivers of their own ideas from conceptualization to implementation and reflection to help CASA’s mission of providing “resources, programs, and mentoring to enable the success of the children and youth we serve as they reach permanency and/or age-out of the foster care system.”
As a CASA of Morris and Sussex Counties Youth Advisory Council member, you will learn:
- The importance and impact of philanthropy
- How to address an audience, and delegate responsibilities
- How to research and identify needs, interests, and possible service projects in your community
- How to work effectively with other youth from unique perspectives and backgrounds
- How to partner with a nonprofit organization focused on youth and service
As part of this group you will:
- Attend Youth Advisory Council sessions at the CASA office in Cedar Knolls
- Play a leadership role in the planning and implementation of a service project in your community
- Provide feedback on program efficacy and goals upon completion of the program
- Serve as an overall ambassador of CASA’s mission
Eligibility criteria include:
- Must be in Grades 7-12
- Attending school in or living in Morris or Sussex County
- Commitment to projects and in-person meetings in the CASA office located in Cedar Knolls (222 Ridgedale Avenue, Suite 300)
